Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presided over the full-dress rehearsal of the Royal Cremation procession for His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej at Sanam Luang ceremonial ground on 21 October 2017. The three-hour-long rehearsal covered three processions of honor for the transfer of the Royal Urn from Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall to the Royal Crematorium at Sanam Luang.
Today (20 October 2017), Volunteers for Dad, in
cooperation with the Territorial Defense Command, has delivered more than one million
sandalwood flowers as final tributes to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on
the Royal Cremation Day, at Sri Burapha Auditorium, Thammasat University.
On 18 October 2017 at 17.00 hr, His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun will preside over the ceremony of placing the Nine-Tiered Great White Umbrella of State at the top of the Royal Crematorium within Sanam Luang ceremonial ground. The Television Pool of Thailand will start the live broadcast at 16.50 hr. Certain roads around Sanam Luang would be closed to traffic from 14.00 hr onwards.
Officially opened for operations today, the Main Press Center (MPC) at Thammasat University’s Main Auditorium is now the central source for information, photographs, and program feeds for broadcasting, in regard to the Royal Cremation Ceremony for King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The press center will also serve as a working area for a total of 1,687 accredited Thai and foreign media members. For the live telecasts, 136 cameras, 19 OB trucks and 19 satellite vans will be deployed, along with 11 Thai narrators and two English narrators, according to Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office, Mr. Omsin Chivapruck.
The Ministry of Transport will provide special transport services for free to help ease traffic congestion around the Grand Palace during the royal cremation ceremony from 25 October until 29 October 2017. The BTS Skytrain on the Silom Line and Sukhumvit Line will waive the fare on 26 October 2017 from 6 a.m. until midnight, 12 a.m. The Skytrain rides on the On Nut - Samrong and Wongwian Yai - Bang Wa routes will also be provided free of charge on 25 October and 27 October. A single-ride ticket can be issued for free at ticket vending machines during the specified period. Meanwhile, the MRT Purple Line will be free on 25-27 October from 5:30 a.m. until 12:00 a.m. Services on the MRT Blue Line will be provided free of charge only on 26 October. Services on both the Purple and Blue Lines will be extended on 26 October until 2:00 a.m. The Airport Rail Link (ARL) will waive the fares on 25-27 October, with trains running every 10 minutes. Services on 26 October will be extended until 2:00 a.m.
