Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office Omsin Chivapruck, in his capacity as Chairman of the Committee on Public Relations for the Royal Cremation of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, officially opened the Main Press Center on 16 October 2017.
Mr. Omsin said that, as of 12 October 2017, a total of 1,687 members of the media had applied for media accreditation for the Royal Cremation Ceremony. Out of this number, more than 1,300 are Thai journalists from radio and television stations, various newspapers and magazines, as well as online media operators. About 300 journalists are from 86 international news agencies and magazines.
He said that the Main Press Center can accommodate around 1,500 members of the media. The Government Public Relations Department (PRD) serves as the parent station to broadcast the Royal Cremation Ceremony live through 5,000 radio stations nationwide.
The Television Pool of Thailand serves as the parent station for live television broadcasts to all television channels. The Royal Cremation Ceremony will be broadcast via satellite on Thai TV Global Network for viewers in 177 countries. It will also be broadcast through NBT World, an English-language television service, operated by the National News Bureau under the supervision of PRD.
The Main Press Center is preparing to broadcast live this important ceremony via the website www.kingrama9.th and Facebook, as well. It is located in the Main Auditorium, Thammasat University, Tha Phra Chan campus, near Sanam Luang ceremonial ground in Bangkok. This area is also the location of the International Broadcast Center.
